Abstract:

Geo-environment generally refers to the integrated geological object that is composed of the surface rock, soil, groundwater, and other components of the earth, which supports the land and natural resources and human engineering activities. Currently, the geo-environment has been strongly disturbed by China’s economic construction and resources development, leading to issues in geological environment. Although the geo-environmental monitoring work has achievements in recent ten years, it can not meet the demand of socioeconomic development and security of people. The problems need be urgently resolved based on the construction of geo-environment monitoring system. For the purpose of scientifically using and protecting geo-environment, this paper analyses the necessity and urgency on advancing geo-environment monitoring from the point of view of science and history, and puts forward some suggestions and ideas for future geo-environmental monitoring.
