Study on the influence of digital economy on inter-provincial green water resource utilization efficiency: Based on the test of system GMM model

数字经济对省际绿色水资源利用效率的影响研究——基于系统GMM模型的检验

Abstract:

Water resources are the cornerstone of the survival and continuous development of human society, and the development of digital economy can effectively promote the green and efficient use of water resources. To explore the intrinsic connection between the digital economy and green water resource utilization efficiency, this paper employs a panel data set spanning from 2012 to 2022, covering 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China. By adopting the system GMM model, it empirically analyses the impact of the digital economy on green water resource utilization efficiency. The results indicate that the digital economy has a significantly positive effect on green water resource utilization efficiency at the national level, which remains robust after significance tests. Furthermore, the regional heterogeneity test reveals that digital economy plays a significant positive role in promoting the efficiency of green water resources utilization in eastern regions than in central and western China. The intermediate effect test shows that the upgrading and optimizing the structure of the first and second industries is the intermediate variable of the digital economy to promote the improvement of green water resource utilization efficiency. Based on these findings, policy recommendations are proposed, including the formulation of region-specific policies, strengthening the foundation for digital economy development, and increasing investment in digital economy innovation and R&D, which provides effective ways to improve green water resource utilization efficiency.

摘要:

水资源是人类社会生存和不断发展的基石,数字经济的发展能够有效助推水资源的绿色高效利用。为探究数字经济与绿色水资源利用效率之间的内在联系,文章基于2012-2022年全国31省域层面的面板数据,运用系统GMM模型,实证分析数字经济对绿色水资源利用效率的影响效应。结果表明:全国范围内数字经济对绿色水资源利用效率具有显著的正向促进作用;区域异质性检验结果表明,相对于中西部地区,数字经济对东部地区的绿色水资源利用效率提高存在更为明显的正向推动作用;中介效应检验结果表明,第一、二产业结构升级对于数字经济促进绿色水资源利用效率提高起到中介作用。据此,提出制定区域差异性政策、筑牢数字经济发展基础、加大数字经济创新研发投入等建议,为绿色水资源利用效率的提升提供有效路径。
