Abstract:

The Medical mineralogy as an intersectant and marginal science of medicine and geology is an important field of medical mineral. But in recent years, the development of Medical mineralogy in China was staggering and slow. This paper describes the contents of the Medical mineralogy and analyzes the current development of Medical mineralogy, summarizes the reasons of the predicament including complicated multi-subjects, difficult applied fields, training gap, a weak support of state, and difference of R&D system. According to these reasons, the paper presents approaches to development of Medical mineralogy: enhance state’s support, cultivate the compound talents, strengthen the academic exchanges, and promote the cognition of traditional Chinese medicine. This paper suggests developing the medical mineral resources as an industry, which drives an active study in the medical mineralogy. 
